______
Who I am and why I love nurturing plants…
I’m Malcolm Galloway, a Northern Virginia native, I am the sole proprietor and operator of Malcolm’s Microfarming (formerly Project Nature). I graduated from Woodson High School and Virginia State University with a BS in Plant & Soil Science; with a practical concentration on permaculture/sustainable small scale farming.
While at university, I operated my own 1/4 acre urban market garden. Once I graduated, I worked as an Agriculture Specialist for Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE). My role with VCE was to create plots and work with niche, high value crops that local Virginia growers could profitably replicate within their farm business model. I interacted with the interested public as a VCE agent and presented my findings throughout the growing season at the VCE research farm – Randolph Farm.
I have more than a decade of work experience with all types of urban/suburban agriculture and gardens, lawn care, landscaping jobs, urban/suburban permaculture.
For the past six years, I’ve worked in sustainable agriculture in Australia and New Zealand.
I have had jobs ranging from a working as a harvest and packing specialist at a small, family asparagus operation in Dunedin, NZ.
To care-taking the breathtaking residence of Aquila on Hamilton Island, in the magical Whitsunday Islands.
To the remote reaches of Far North Queensland working as a caretaker at Tranquility on the Daintree, a 400 acre, unique eco-resort with a local, tropical, farm to table dining experience.
